Principles And Differences Between Electromagnetic Relay And Electronic Relay

2022-07-30 11:11

First of all, let's know what electromagnetic relay is, so as to judge their respective standards. Electromagnetic relay is an electronic control device, which has control system (also known as input circuit) and controlled system (also known as output circuit). It is usually used in automatic control circuit. In fact, it is an "automatic switch" that uses smaller current and lower voltage to control larger current and higher voltage. Therefore, it plays the role of automatic regulation, safety protection and conversion circuit in the circuit.

Principles And Differences Between Electromagnetic Relay And Electronic Relay

Let's take a look at the specific electronic relay? Where to use it. Electronic relay is an electronic control device, which has a control system (also known as input circuit) and a controlled system (also known as output circuit). It is usually used in automatic control circuits. In fact, it is an "automatic switch" that uses a small current to control a large current. Therefore, it plays the role of automatic regulation, safety protection and conversion circuit in the circuit.

Difference between electromagnetic relay and electronic relay

First of all, we can classify electromagnetic relays according to the nature of the intermediate signal between the main terminal and the switching element. The magnetic field generated by the input signal acts on the mechanical contact. Examples include standard yoke type relays and reed relays. This standard yoke type relay consists of a coil wound on a soft iron core, an armature, and one or more sets of contacts. When current is applied, the coil generates an electromagnetic field and the armature is activated. The armature is the moving part of the relay. It is hinged on the yoke, mechanically connected with the moving contact, can open and close the contact, and has an additional spring to return it to its original position. The armature is held in place by springs, so there is a gap in the magnetic circuit when the relay is de energized. Although all versions provide the same basic operating concept, electrical relays use slightly different technologies and vary in size and type.

Electronic relays use electronic switches (such as transistors and three terminal bidirectional AC switches) as main switching elements. This allows the relay to control a larger circuit. Other types of electronic relays (transmitted by means of optics, frequency modulation or capacitive effect) include optocouplers (at the main end, optical signals are transmitted through light-emitting diodes, while phototransistors act as receivers and control switching elements), thermoelectric relays (main end input energy heats bimetallic components, mechanically drives contacts) and piezoelectric relays (piezoelectric effect mechanically operated contacts). Electromagnetic relay is widely used in aviation, aerospace, shipbuilding, home appliances and other fields. It mainly completes the functions of signal transmission, executive control, system power distribution and so on. It is one of the key electronic components in each system.
